- Summary
Huntingdon’s disease is currently an incurable disease and as such staff need support in understanding the condition in order to provide the long term care the service users require. This half day training session equips staff with the knowledge they need to deliver the best possible care. A case study is included and assignment and reading list.
- Who should attend?
This training session is for staff who support service users with Huntingdon’s disease.

- Understand the term and why it fits into the dementia umbrella framework
- Understand the primary cause of HD
- Identify symptoms and categorise them
- Understand the impact of the disease on the person and their family and social network
- Understand methods of approach and interventions
- Understand the challenging behaviours that may develop as a result of the disease

- This training is not limited in numbers.
Equivalent Relevant information
1. Certificates are issued for each learner and if dated, are valid to that period. N.B Learners attending
must complete the entire duration of the training to qualify for a certificate.
2. A learner assessment may be required post training for audit and PDP purposes.
