This advanced workshop is for care support workers who are supporting individuals
who suffer from seizures of an epileptic nature- Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to

∇ Understand the main effects of epilepsy as experienced by the
service user groups
∇ Understand how to prepare Risk Management of epilepsy
∇ Understand the importance of supporting service users to take
medication as directed by their doctor.
∇ Understand that service users may have unpredictable moods
and behaviours from epilepsy
∇ Know how to administer emergency rectal diazepam and be
assessed as safe to do so.
∇ Identify what documentation is required following a seizure
∇ Understand how to use rectal diazepam and Buccal Midazolam
∇ Carry out an audit and competence test - How many candidates may attend?

Equivalent Relevant information
1. Certificates are issued for each learners and if dated, are valid to that period. N.B Learners attending
must complete the entire duration of the training to qualify for a certificate.
2. A learner assessment may be required post training for audit and PDP purposes.
