- Summary
This course is advanced training for specialist brain injury units or for people who are supporting individuals who have neurological disorders.
- Who should attend?
All staff who deliver personal care or who are involved in the care planning process.
- Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to

• Develop an understanding of the brain, its parts and its functions
• Identifying what are the most common causes of disorder
• Understand what is an ABI
• Be able to identify different types of ABI
• Understand what is diffuse axonal injury
• Identify the results of ABI on the individual
• Developing empathy for the client with the disorder
• Develop an awareness of traumatic epilepsy
• Understand more about COMA and its measurement indexes
• Understand what approaches are available to help people with ABI
• Know what resources are available for support within the community and multi
disciplinary team - How many candidates may attend?
