This course contributes toward the recommended guided learning hours, you should carry out practice reflection, document and attach subsequent evidence from this training.

Summary

The purpose of this half day course is to offer care support staff who
are directly involved with service users to understand the relevance and
importance of activities, the role of the coordinator and the support they
can offer.

Who should attend?

Care support staff in general, Activities coordinators who plan and/or deliver
activities in care homes, day centres or advocate on a one to one basis.

Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to

∇ understand why activities are an important factor in mental and physical health
∇ Understand who can be involved with emphasis on dementia sufferers
∇ Look at popular preconceptions about activities
∇ Understand how frequent activities should be
∇ Identify Considerations for supporting the coordinator
∇ Understand internal and external influences of group work
∇ Understand how to report to the coordinator effectively

How many candidates may attend?
This training is not limited in numbers.

Equivalent Relevant information

1. For registered nurses or those involved in the Qualifications and credit framework, who wish to
incorporate this training into your portfolio’s, you should carry out practice reflection (CPD) and attach
subsequent evidence from this training
2. Certificates are only issued for each learner and, if dated, are valid to that period
3. Learner assessments are required for post training audit which need to be returned to the centre for
marking.
N.B Staff must attend the full duration of the session in order to obtain a certificate .
