Summary

This course will enhance the learner’s knowledge, understanding and
skills required to recruit and select staff to support individuals with specific care
needs.

leaders and managers who wish to enhance or update their knowledge and

Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to

Understand the impact on selection and recruitment processes, in own
setting, of: Legislative requirements, Regulatory requirements,
Professional codes, Agreed ways of working
• Identify when it is necessary to seek specialist expertise in relation to
recruitment and selection
• Analyse how serious case reviews and inquiries have contributed to the
establishment of policies and procedures within recruitment which
safeguard vulnerable adults, children and young people.
• Understand how to write job descriptions and person specifications to
meet work setting objectives
• Understand how to work with others to establish the criteria that will be
used in the recruitment and selection process
• Understand how to work with others to establish the methods that will
be used in the recruitment and selection process
• Understand how to involve individuals in the recruitment process
• Identity agreed methods to assess candidates
• Identity agreed criteria to select candidates
• Understand how to communicate the outcome of the selection process
according to the policies and procedures of own setting
• Evaluate the recruitment and selection methods and criteria used in
own setting and recommend changes for improvement to recruitment
and selection processes in own setting

1. Certificates are issued for each learner and if dated, are valid to that period. N.B Learners attending
must complete the entire duration of the training to qualify for a certificate.
2. A learner assessment may be required post training for audit and PDP purposes.
