What is ATAC?

ATAC is an accredited modular home-study distance learning course leading to a demonstration of competence in underpinning knowledge required for the role of Activities therapists working in Care Homes, day centres or other care settings. This unique form of training is ideal for anyone wishing to carry out meaningful activities. There is an emphasis on the concept of ‘life themes’ as part of the planning and implementation process. The course provides important underpinning knowledge for staff working within the new Skills for Care framework and for staff involved in the qualification and framework. The training is accredited by the ODLQC.

What is the content?

The 5 modules are: 1- getting started, 2- various types of activities, 3- planning a group, 4-working with individuals, and 5-Further developing your key skills. As well as the 5 modules, there are 55 assessment questions, 43 individual exercises, essential “ready to copy” documentation that can be used immediately including evaluation, assessment and planning sheets.

This was a very interesting and educational course. I found the modules to be in depth, detailed and it has given me so much more confidence to carry out my role to its full potential!! Steve was always on hand if I needed any help. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone working in this role. 😁

    Rachel Dyson

I have enjoyed doing the course. It really made me think about a lot of things and made me appreciate more from a service users perspective. It has given me good information and ideas to feedback to colleagues, some of which we have given a go already and I am glad I did it. I thought it was pitched just right and not designed to be tedious or boring!

    Julie Whitmore, Pathways, Kent

‘I would like to do more training in the future so no doubt I will be on to you again. I loved the course and will now look back on it all again as a training book, it has really helped me’.

    Hailey Hunter , Activities Coordinator

I recently completed the Activity Training Assessment Certificate. I found it to be exactly what I required and I am confident now that I have been equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to progress with the tasks of either planning or implementing meaningful Activities with elderly people. The course was interesting, informative and above all entirely relevant and applicable in the setting that it was intended for. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone in the future. Thanks again.

    Mary Murphey, Ireland

“I have just completed a course which has been based in Gibraltar. I am so impressed with the standard and of the content of the work books which are informative, helpful to say the least.
It must be said that the skilled delivery and competency of the trainer was outstanding.
His knowledge was obviously experienced based which came through on every aspect of the syllabus. He successfully delivered a large amount of data in a manner that was understood to a good sized group of people who’s first language is not necessarily English.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this course, I have learnt new skills and taken on board new and exciting ideas.
I sincerely hope we can take advantage of more of your training in the not too distant future.
I can’t say anything other a huge thank you and that I would not have any reservation in highly recommending you and deservedly so.”

Amanda Parsons , Elderly Residential Services, Gibralter
